About the app

Hard 16 is a blackjack trainer built on an exact expected-value engine. Rather than shipping a picture of a strategy chart and marking you against it, it computes the correct play for the table rules you actually set — deck count, H17, double-after-split, late surrender — and recomputes both the answer and the grading the moment you change a rule.

You can use the full web version free at blackjack.ai-speeds.com.

Frequently asked

Why does the app disagree with the strategy chart I found online?

Almost always because the rules are different. A chart printed for a six-deck S17 game is wrong at a two-deck H17 table, and single-deck play differs from both. Open the rules screen and set it to the game you are actually studying. If the app and a correct chart for those exact rules still disagree, that is a bug worth reporting — please tell us the hand, the dealer up-card and the rule set.

Why did a hand I played by the book come back as less than perfect?

A few cells are genuinely close, and the specific cards in your hand can tip them. A hard 16 made of 10+6 is not quite the same decision as one made of 9+7, because the cards you hold are cards the dealer cannot draw. When that happens the app says so explicitly rather than silently marking you down. Playing the strategy chart is never scored as wrong.

How do I restore my Pro unlock on a new device?

Open the Pro page and tap Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple Account that bought it. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — there is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews.

I lost my progress.

Progress is stored on your device only, which means there is no cloud backup to restore it from. Deleting the app, or clearing site data in the browser, erases it permanently. Your Pro unlock is tied to your Apple Account rather than your device, so that always comes back with Restore Purchases.

My Daily 21 streak broke.

The Daily 21 is generated from the date, so everyone in the world gets the same twenty-one hands. Missing a day breaks the streak, but you get one repair per break — open the daily screen and the repair option appears. Catch-up rounds let you play days you missed.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Everything is computed on the device, and nothing needs a connection except making or restoring a purchase.

Is card counting legal?

Counting cards using only your own head is legal, and the app says so. It also says the parts that marketing usually leaves out: it needs a bankroll most people do not have, it will get you asked to leave, and it does nothing whatsoever at a continuous-shuffle table. That disclosure sits above the buy button, not below it.

Is there any real-money gambling in the app?

No. There is no wagering, no chip or credit balance, no deposits or withdrawals, and nothing that can be won or lost. It is a study tool, and it carries no casino advertising or affiliate links.

What is free and what is paid?

All of basic strategy is free and stays free: sixteen lessons, the 330-cell grid, free practice, the Daily 21, the weakness heatmap and the table-rule presets. So is the answer to "how much bankroll do I need?" — being told the number is bigger than your bankroll is safety information, not something to sell. The counting ladder is a single one-time purchase.

More from the same maker

Two more table-math trainers, built the same way — an exact engine underneath, and grading that tells you the truth: PreFlop GTO Poker Trainer and PostFlop GTO Poker Trainer.
